I want to encourage you not to just think about exercise when you want to lose weight but as a way of life. Think of exercise as involving your mind and your body, a way of letting off steam and cleansing the day away.
People always talk about breakfast being the most important meal of the day – I agree. It is also my favourite meal of the day and if I could eat breakfast food all day I would. However, a lot of people skip breakfast because they just don’t have time for it. When you eat breakfast, it kicks your metabolism into gear. In case you are interested, it does this through a process called thermogenesis, which is the body burning calories to produce heat and therefore stimulates your metabolism. So not only does it fill an empty stomach, provide you with the essential nutrients to start your day it also helps get your metabolism moving – winner all round!
It is seen as normal if people skip breakfast but when you hear about people skipping lunch or dinner, then that is frowned upon. Now I have explained, how important breakfast is maybe you can add this at the top of the meal hierarchy.
Daily exercise is as important as breakfast. It shouldn’t be skipped. Exercise isn’t always about burning calories, it is about getting your heart rate up, burning away the sins of the day and helping us live happier, healthier and longer lives. You don’t have to spend an hour slogging away in the gym if that isn’t your cup of tea. You could get off the tube a couple of stops early and walk into work. Despite this helping to get the blood pumping, it will probably help release some of that pent-up stress that commuting in rush hour gives you. Take out your early morning anger on a faster stride to work, rather than the poor person being shoved into your back on the Piccadilly line.
